Baseball Recap: The Academy Takes a Loss

The Academy was the 8-7 winner over Kent Denver when they last played one another on Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Sun Devils by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday.

The Academy got a good showing from Remmington Ewoldt, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ewoldt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brennan Staudinger led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of The Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Kameron Forsyth also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Kent Denver, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-4.

The Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-3 defeat against Denver Christian on the 17th.
