Basketball Game Preview: Fleming Wildcats vs. Lone Star Longhorns

Fleming has gone a perfect 4-0 against Lone Star recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Fleming Wildcats just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lone Star Longhorns at 2:00 p.m. Lone Star took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fleming, who comes in off a win.

Fleming is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Briggsdale with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 71-55. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Meanwhile, Lone Star played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Front Range Baptist, falling 71-50. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Fleming will have to contain Grant Kuntz as he made an impact in Lone Star's last game. He almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists. Kuntz also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Lone Star is 6-3 when he posts at least five steals, but 1-4 otherwise. Anderson Weathers was another key player, going 5-for-12 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Fleming pushed their record up to 4-14 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Lone Star, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Fleming was able to grind out a solid victory over Lone Star in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 40-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fleming since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
