Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Charlotte Catholic Cougars
The Butler Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Charlotte Catholic Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Butler got the win against Rocky River by a conclusive 58-37. Given Butler's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Rocky River is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Catholic entered their tilt with Garinger with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Charlotte Catholic blew past Garinger 71-30 on the road on Tuesday. Charlotte Catholic pushed the score to 65-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Garinger cut but never quite recovered from.
Butler's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Charlotte Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.
Butler suffered a grim 58-36 defeat to Charlotte Catholic in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Charlotte Catholic's Blanca Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.
