Baseball Recap: Whitley County Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Whitley County's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Harlan County Black Bears. The win continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Black Bears: they've now won six in a row.

Kip Allen was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine games. Henry Bowling was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Whitley County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harlan County only posted an OBP of .250.

Whitley County's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games.
