Baseball Preview: Scotland County Tigers vs. Milan Wildcats

Scotland County is a perfect 6-0 against Milan since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Milan took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Scotland County, who comes in off a win.

Scotland County can't be too worried about heading out to take on Milan: they just beat Putnam County at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Tigers came out on top against the Midgets by a score of 6-3 on Monday. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Midgets on their field since April 6, 2019.

Owen Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Tayte Richmond was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Scotland County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Milan's offense. They fell 4-0 to Green City on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Gophers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Milan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Scotland County, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
