Basketball Recap: River Comes Up Short

River was the 44-39 winner over Frontier when they last played one another back in December of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Pilots took a 54-35 bruising from the Cougars on Friday. The Pilots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Frontier to victory were Jacob Bowersock and Avery Powell. Bowersock shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points and seven boards, while Powell went 6-for-12 on his way to 15 points and three steals. That's the most steals Powell has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Kirkpatrick, who earned no points along with eight assists and four steals.

River's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Frontier, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

River has already played their next matchup, a 45-40 defeat against Bridgeport on the 21st. As for Frontier, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-38 win against St. Marys on the 23rd.
