Softball Recap: Masuk Wins Going Away Against Bethel

It was a proper cat-fight when Masuk challenged Bethel on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Wildcats. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Mary Saunders made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Saunders was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Ely, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sofia Lieto, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Masuk's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15.7 runs. As for Bethel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Masuk will welcome Joel Barlow at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Bethel, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Kolbe-Cathedral at 4:00 p.m.
