Baseball Recap: Challis Takes a Loss

Challis dropped their record down to 16-9-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 14-6 to the Firth Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 11th.

Brayden Ollar was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chayten Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Firth, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

On Firth's side, Brycen Andersen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Andersen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Michael Adams was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Darrell Vasquez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
