Recap: Calhoun City Wildcats vs. Bruce Trojans
The Calhoun City Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 85-57 win over Bruce at home. Calhoun City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, Bruce still got an impressive performance from Ashton Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Pierce hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kobe Hooper, who scored seven points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
The victory (which was Calhoun City's tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Bruce, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
Calhoun City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bruce, they and Palmer will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Bruce's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
