Baseball Recap: Hurricane Comes Up Short

Hurricane fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dixie on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flyers by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Flyers since April 5, 2022.

Jack Stewart and Parker Selby did some serious damage despite the final result: Stewart went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Selby went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Stewart is becoming a predictor of Hurricane's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 8-13 when he doesn't).

Hurricane has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Dixie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.

While Hurricane had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
