Recap: Springdale Prep Lions vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders
After soaring to 78 points the game before, the Springdale Prep Lions were a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They were beaten by Riverdale Baptist 75-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Springdale Prep has scored all season.
Springdale Prep's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Anya Neufeld, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds, and Samayria Burrison who scored no points. Neufeld hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for nine straight games.
Riverdale Baptist's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariana Meriedy, who scored 12 points along with three blocks and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Timms, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Springdale Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 22-22. As for Riverdale Baptist, their win bumped their record up to 14-16.
Springdale Prep will head out on the road to face off against Clinton Grace at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton Grace will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Springdale Prep is ranked 106th). As for Riverdale Baptist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against TPLS Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. TPLS Christian Academy is coming into the game with six straight losses on the road, meaning Riverdale Baptist will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
