Basketball Recap: Gilbert Takes a Loss

Gilbert lost against North Augusta back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gilbert Indians had to suffer through a 88-8 loss at the hands of the North Augusta Yellow Jackets. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

North Augusta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Walker, who went 9 of 12 on her way to 21 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Walker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Celena Grant, who went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Gilbert and nudges their season record down to 4-13. As for North Augusta, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Gilbert will square off against Aiken at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Augusta, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 70-11 win against Midland Valley on the 25th.
