Recap: El Camino Eagles vs. Vista del Lago Eagles
The El Camino Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Vista del Lago Eagles on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 53-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for El Camino in their matchups with Vista del Lago: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, El Camino still got an impressive performance from Demetrious Perry, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Watts, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
El Camino struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Vista del Lago racked up 12 assists.
Nathan Kramer was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with four steals for Vista del Lago. Another player making a difference was Owen Pettus, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
El Camino dropped their record down to 7-19 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Vista del Lago, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-16.
El Camino will take on Christian Brothers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Christian Brothers presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than El Camino in California (Christian Brothers is ranked 216th, while El Camino is ranked 846th). As for Vista del Lago, they will head out on the road to take on Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Vista del Lago focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
