Recap: Whitmire Wolverines vs. Calhoun County Saints
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Whitmire Wolverines, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Calhoun County on Friday, falling 62-0. While losing is never fun, Whitmire can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Calhoun County is ranked 85th).
Whitmire's defeat was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Lewisville and 7-4 McBee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.4% over those games). As for Calhoun County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Whitmire does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Calhoun County will take on Southside Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southside Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
