Basketball Recap: West Johnston Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southern Wayne last Thursday, West Johnston came back down to earth. The West Johnston Wildcats were beaten by the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons 81-41 on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why West Johnston lost, don't look at EJ Wilkins. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and three steals. Wilkins is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jacob Dyson, who put up six points.

West Johnston dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for C.B. Aycock, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Johnston will host Hunt at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hunt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season. As for C.B. Aycock, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Smithfield-Selma at 7:30 p.m. C.B. Aycock is facing Smithfield-Selma at the right time seeing as Smithfield-Selma is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
