Softball Recap: Blacksher Victorious

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Blacksher and Excel meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Blacksher Bulldogs skirted past the Excel Panthers 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Panthers since February 23, 2024.

Anna Grace Hollinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Laney Saucer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

Blacksher's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Excel, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blacksher will venture away from home to challenge Flomaton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Excel, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Excel Panthers face off against Straughn Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
