Baseball Recap: Wayne Comes Up Short

Wayne fell victim to Winfield and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Generals. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Generals recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Riley Brown was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Winfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Coming up, Wayne will square off against Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winfield, they will take on Scott at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winfield's pitchers better be ready for this one: Scott has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
