Recap: Rising Sun Tigers vs. Fallston Cougars
The Rising Sun Tigers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fallston on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rising Sun has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Rising Sun lost, one person who can't be blamed is Allison Stoudt. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Stoudt is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jordan Lynch was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Rising Sun struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Fallston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddy Burns, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Bolesta Brooke, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and six blocks.
Rising Sun's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2. As for Fallston, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rising Sun will face off against North East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Rising Sun is ranked 42nd). As for Fallston, they will head out on the road to face off against C. Milton Wright at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
