Football Recap: Gage Santos Leads Loyola's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Loyola won the last time they faced St. Francis and things went their way on Friday too. The Cubs snuck past the Golden Knights with a 9-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cubs.

Loyola didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gage Santos, Malique Pollard, Holden Smyser, and Will Mack picked up one apiece. Smyser is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in St. Francis' side was Kane Casani, who forced one fumble and made ten total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Loyola now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Francis, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Loyola and St. Francis will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Cubs see the field they'll take on Notre Dame (SO) at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for St. Francis, their break will end when they face St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
