Baseball Game Preview: El Camino Colts vs. Half Moon Bay Cougars

The El Camino Colts will challenge the Half Moon Bay Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games El Camino has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, El Camino didn't have quite enough to beat Mills and fell 15-14.

Carlos Alcala stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael McCauley, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Half Moon Bay, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They skirted past Aragon 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since April 12th.

Andreas Hipkins tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Half Moon Bay is undefeated when Hipkins allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Clark Colucci was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Half Moon Bay's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for El Camino, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

El Camino was able to grind out a solid victory over Half Moon Bay when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 5-0. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
