Softball Game Preview: Herscher Tigers vs. Coal City Coalers

For the second straight game, Herscher will face off against Coal City. The Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Coalers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Herscher has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Herscher came up short against Coal City on Monday, falling 22-15. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Coalers: they've now lost three in a row.

For Coal City's part, Addison Hodgen was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Hodgen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DArcy Ness, who went 5-for-6 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Coal City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .566. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Coal City is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Herscher, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
