Baseball Game Preview: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Elgin Maroons

The St. Edward Green Wave will head out on the road to take on the Elgin Maroons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for St. Edward and ten for Elgin.

Timothy Christian hit St. Edward with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Green Wave lost 10-0 to the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Elgin came up short against Glenbard South on Thursday, falling 7-1.

Elgin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Jacobo, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 1-26. As for Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-21-1.

St. Edward took their win against Elgin when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
