Softball Preview: Edgewood Cougars vs. Monroe Hornets

Edgewood barely beat Middletown the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Middies with a sharp 15-1 win on Tuesday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jaycie Broshear made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two triples and four RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Evelyn Henson and Rylee Kallick did most of the damage at the plate: Henson went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Kallick went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Henson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Verhoff, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
