Preview: DeSoto Eagles vs. Summer Creek Bulldogs
The DeSoto Eagles will take on the Summer Creek Bulldogs in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as DeSoto comes in on 21 and Summer Creek on nine.
With a playoff game on the line, DeSoto rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 45-38. Given DeSoto's advantage in MaxPreps' national football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Southlake Carroll is ranked 44th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deondrae Riden jr. had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 254 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Riden jr. also notched 25+ carries for the first time this season. Darius Bailey was another key contributor, throwing for 189 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Summer Creek can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. Everything went their way against Steele as Summer Creek made off with a 38-14 win.
Summer Creek relied on the efforts of Blake Thomas, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and Lloyd Avant, who gained 224 total yards and three touchdowns. Thomas set a new season high mark in rushing yards with 153.
DeSoto's victory bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Summer Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
