Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Palm Desert's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

Palm Desert hadn't done well against Palm Springs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Palm Desert Aztecs walked away with a 54-46 victory over the Palm Springs Indians. This was a revenge game for the Aztecs: when they faced off against the Indians back in January, they had to take a 43-37 defeat.

Palm Desert's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wil Wilson, who posted 15 points. Wilson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jecorey Jones, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Palm Desert has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Palm Springs, they moved to 19-8 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Palm Desert will head out on the road to face off against Xavier Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Palm Desert is facing Xavier Prep at the right time seeing as Xavier Prep is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Palm Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho Mirage at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Mirage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Palm Springs likes a good challenge.
