Basketball Recap: Lubbock Takes a Loss

Lubbock lost against Hillcrest back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lubbock Westerners took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hillcrest Panthers. The Westerners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hillcrest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saivon Johnson, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. Komarion Callahan was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Lubbock's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Hillcrest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

Lubbock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-30 loss against White on the 28th. As for Hillcrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-49 victory against Monterey on the 28th.
