Baseball Recap: Homestead Highlanders vs. West Bend West Spartans

Homestead had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it seven. They fell 4-0 to the West Bend West Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.

Homestead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Apel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for West Bend West, their win bumped their record up to 10-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

On West Bend West's side, Ryan Rose and Landon Wertz did most of the damage at the plate: Rose earned one run and three stolen bases, while Wertz went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Rose a new career-high.
