Basketball Game Preview: Chavez Eagles vs. Monroe Vikings

Chavez and Monroe are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Chavez Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Monroe Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Chavez and six for Monroe.

Last Friday, Chavez had to suffer through a 80-30 loss at the hands of North Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Monroe came up short against San Fernando Valley Academy on Saturday and fell 68-58. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Huskies 15-7 in the first quarter.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Chavez, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Chavez took a serious blow against Monroe in their previous meeting back in January, falling 72-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Monroe's Jorge Hernandez, who posted 25 points. Now that Chavez knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
