Softball Recap: Hickory Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oil City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hickory). They were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over the Oil City Oilers on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Hickory got a massive performance out of Olivia Schneider, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Schneider has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Layla McClung, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Hickory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hickory's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7. As for Oil City, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
