Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Jaguars vs. Edina Hornets

The Jefferson Jaguars will square off against the Edina Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Jefferson came up short against St. Louis Park and fell 11-8.

Ethan Agre was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Isaac Feller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Edina and St. Michael-Albertville, and St. Michael-Albertville kept the tradition alive. The Hornets fell just short of the Knights by a score of 6-5 on Friday.

Edina also got a good showing from Quinlan Cronin, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Jackson McGrath made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lincoln Page was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Jefferson's record now sits at 0-3. As for Edina, their record is now 0-2-1.

Jefferson was able to grind out a solid win over Edina in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
