Baseball Game Preview: Castlewood Blue Devils vs. Rye Cove Eagles

Castlewood is 8-2 against Rye Cove since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Castlewood is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Eastside just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 13-0.

Meanwhile, Rye Cove got themselves on the board against Thomas Walker last Tuesday, but Thomas Walker never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Rye Cove and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Castlewood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Castlewood took their win against Rye Cove in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
