Basketball Recap: Asheville School (Independent) Falls Short of Grace Christian in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Asheville School (Independent) can now relate to. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 70-54 to the Grace Christian Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Blues can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Crusaders are ranked second).

Several Blues players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryann Hernandez, who posted 19 points and seven rebounds. Hernandez's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jaza Wilson, who scored 14 points and five boards.

Grace Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyndoll English led the charge by dropping a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. English has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of AdAorA Mogbo, who had 17 points and eight rebounds.

Asheville School (Independent)'s loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Grace Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Asheville School (Independent) does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grace Christian, they will take on Concord Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Concord Academy sitting on 14 straight victories and Grace Christian on 13.
