Basketball Game Preview: Sipsey Valley Bears vs. Paul W. Bryant Stampede

Sipsey Valley and Paul W. Bryant are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Sipsey Valley Bears will challenge the Paul W. Bryant Stampede at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Sipsey Valley beat Greene County 50-40.

Meanwhile, Paul W. Bryant waltzed into their game on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They took down the Choctaws 63-46. Given the Stampede's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Choctaws are ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paul W. Bryant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points per game. As for Sipsey Valley, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Sipsey Valley took a serious blow against Paul W. Bryant when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 72-40. Can Sipsey Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
