Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Redhawks vs. West Mecklenburg Hawks + How To Watch

The Monroe Redhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monroe has three straight wins, West Mecklenburg has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Friday, Monroe blew past Central, posting a 72-37 victory.

Janiyah Boyd had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double with 38 points and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Monroe's points. Deianna Walters was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six boards and four steals.

Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg was beaten by Stuart W. Cramer 61-30 on Monday.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for West Mecklenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Monroe against West Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in November, as the squad secured a 57-27 victory. In that matchup, the Redhawks amassed a halftime lead of 34-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
