Softball Recap: Mission Hills Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mission Hills can now relate to. They fell just short of the Rancho Bernardo Broncos by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Broncos earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Oloa Motas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Mission Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Sengsouly, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Gracelynn Templeton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mission Hills has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Rancho Bernardo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13-1.

Mission Hills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-6 loss against La Costa Canyon on the 23rd. As for Rancho Bernardo, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-5 win against Torrey Pines on the 23rd.
