Basketball Recap: Fillmore Piles Up the Points Against Hueneme

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fillmore). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Hueneme Vikings 74-40. With that win, the Flashes brought their scoring average up to 53.3 points per game.

Fillmore's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brendan Banks-Speed, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists. The matchup was Banks-Speed's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Octavio Orozco was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Fillmore and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Hueneme, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Fillmore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-39 win against Canoga Park on the 6th. As for Hueneme, they have also already played their next game, a 101-43 defeat against Simi Valley on the 8th.
