Baseball Recap: Marmaton Valley Comes Up Short

Marmaton Valley dropped their record down to 9-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 16-1 to the Crest Lancers. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Crest, their record is now 14-5. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won 14 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Crest's part, Jensen Barker made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Barker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Drake Weir was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Henry White, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Marmaton Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
