Baseball Recap: Southwest Christian Has No Trouble Against St. Agnes

Southwest Christian won the last time they faced St. Agnes and things went their way on Saturday too. The Stars put the hurt on the Aggies with a sharp 12-5 victory. The contest marked the Stars' most dominant win of the season so far.

Jimmy Dahlen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Dahlen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That hit marked the first that he has got this season.

In other batting news, Ben Lindberg and Melvin Maldonado did most of the damage at the plate: Lindberg went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Maldonado went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Lindberg a new career-high. Cole Bjerke also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Southwest Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Agnes struck out 13 times.

Southwest Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Agnes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Christian will challenge Holy Family Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Agnes, they will face off against St. Croix Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
