Coal City typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Bradley-Bourbonnais proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Coalers 3-2. For the Boilermakers, this counts as revenge for the 13-11 win the Coalers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Liam Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Shaul, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Bradley-Bourbonnais is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Coal City, they dropped their record down to 15-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, Bradley-Bourbonnais and Coal City will both be playing Herscher the next time they take the field. The Boilermakers will host the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Coalers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
