Baseball Game Preview: Madison Southern Eagles vs. Western Hills Wolverines

The Madison Southern Eagles will square off against the Western Hills Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison Southern is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Madison Southern didn't have quite enough to beat Bryan Station and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Western Hills had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They won by a run and slipped past Bluegrass United 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since April 8th.

Cole Semones was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Morris, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Harlan Comer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Western Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bluegrass United only posted an OBP of .267.

Western Hills' win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Madison Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15.

Madison Southern skirted past Western Hills 8-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
