Jonathan Saavedra edges Jake Browning for top passing mark in the nation.
Jake Browning of Folsom (Calif.) broke the state record for career passing yards in a win over Cathedral Catholic (San Diego), but he was not the top passing quarterback for the week.
According to
statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Jonathan Saavedra of Santa Clarita Christian (Canyon County, Calif.) led the nation in passing last week with 527 yards and seven touchdowns. Browning was second with 520 yards and seven scores.
David Hamilton of San Marcos (Texas), who actually plays quarterback, was the top rusher with 387 yards including six touchdowns. Kellen Overstreet of Penney (Hamilton, Mo.) had the third-best rushing outing of the week with 376 yards against Gallatin. Overstreet now has over 6,000 career rushing yards with 6,029.
Jared Reagan of Booker (Texas) is closing in on the state record for career receptions. With 12 catches in a win last week, Reagan now has 293 catches for 3,597 yards and 38 touchdowns. Jake Oliver of Dallas Jesuit set the receptions record in 2012 with 308 career catches.
