Basketball Recap: Skyline Falcons vs. Legacy Lightning
Skyline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 64-49 to the Legacy Lightning. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Lightning are ranked 136th).
Despite the loss, Skyline still got an impressive performance from Michael Thalacker, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points and three steals. Damian Villereal also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Legacy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Hergenreter, who shot 67% from the field en route to 21 points and seven boards. Hergenreter is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last four games he's played. Devan Kirchhevel was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Legacy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Skyline has already played their next game, a 55-42 loss against Niwot on the 16th. As for Legacy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-54 victory against Fort Collins on the 15th.
