Softball Recap: Colton Wins Going Away Against Western Christian

Colton won the last time they faced Western Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Pioneers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Clara Weinberger made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of Katelynn Kimsey, who went 2-for-6 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Payton Herbison, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Colton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Colton's record now sits at 5-8-1. As for Western Christian, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colton will host Salem Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western Christian, they will be playing at home against Central Linn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
