Softball Recap: Escondido Takes a Loss

Escondido was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to the Valley Center Jaguars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 11-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Kendall Workman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Audrey Dabelstein was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Escondido's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Valley Center, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-15.

Escondido didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 loss against Mt. Carmel on the 2nd. As for Valley Center, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-7 win against Fallbrook on the 2nd.
