Baseball Recap: Fairfield Wins Going Away Against South Central

There's no place like home for Fairfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against the South Central Satellites on Saturday as they made off with a 9-3 win. That looming 9-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

Grady Garber made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kyler Castetter was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eli Miller, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Fairfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Fairfield will take on Angola at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 14-0 defeat against Jimtown on the 14th.
