Western Boone scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the McCutcheon Mavericks by a score of 17-16. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (13), the Stars still had to take the loss.

Quinn Westerfeld led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Western Boone is 4-2 when Westerfeld posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hawkins, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Western Boone's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for McCutcheon, their record is now 7-9.

Looking ahead, Western Boone will venture away from home to take on Frankfort at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCutcheon, they will welcome Greenfield-Central at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
