Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is South Central's Third in Last Four Outings

Boone Grove came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against South Central, but Jay Huerta wouldn't allow it. The South Central Satellites walked away with a 79-72 victory over the Boone Grove Wolves on Friday thanks in part to Huerta, who went 11 of 15 on his way to 32 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game.

Another player making a difference was Clayten Strauch, who posted five points along with ten assists and six boards. Those ten assists gave him a new career-high.

Boone Grove's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Stevens, who went 12 for 24 en route to 27 points and six rebounds. Stevens' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Batesole, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five assists.

South Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Boone Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

South Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-35 defeat against Jimtown on the 18th. As for Boone Grove, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kouts at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
