Softball Recap: Granger Has No Trouble Against Bartlett

Granger never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the Bartlett Bulldogs as the Granger Lions made off with a 9-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Arianna Herrera's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Izzy Tavernier and Marissa Hall did most of the damage at the plate: Tavernier went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Hall scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Kinsey Vitek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Granger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett only managed one hit.

Granger now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Bartlett, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granger will head out to face off against Thorndale at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bartlett will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bremond at 6:00 p.m. on March 21st.
