Baseball Game Preview: South Elgin Storm vs. Fenton Bison

South Elgin has gone 7-2 against Fenton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Storm will host the Bison at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Elgin has four straight wins, Fenton has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

South Elgin's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Elgin. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jack Zaimins looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Lund, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Nathan Kmiec was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

South Elgin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Fenton lost 14-7 to Glenbard South on Tuesday.

South Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Fenton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

South Elgin took their win against Fenton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
