Softball Game Preview: Daleville Broncos vs. Delta Eagles

The Daleville Broncos will be taking part in a tournament against the Delta Eagles at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Daleville's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.

On Thursday, Daleville got the win against Muncie Central by a conclusive 23-3. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Valyn Pattengale, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Womack, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Daleville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Delta's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Greenfield-Central, falling 16-3.

Daleville's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Daleville skirted past Delta 11-10 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
